Starting on September 1, 2011 plastic bags will be banned in Santa Monica. And honestly, we couldn’t be happier about this! It’s such a huge win when government takes the leadership position on environmental issues. Now the big question: will the city of Los Angeles and the rest of California follow suit? Let’s hope so!

Being eco parents is at the heart of everything we do here at Silikids. One way we keep our babies clean AND green is by using the wonderful California Baby skincare line. One of the reasons California Baby scored high with us was because the line scored low on the the Environmental Work Group’s products review site.
EWG’s Skin Deep Website evaluates more than 65,000 products for levels of toxicity. 0-2 means it’s limited hazard while 7-10 means high hazard. Our favorite California Baby product, Calming Shampoo and Body Wash scored a very respectable 1. Which skincare line do you use for your little tyke?

Being a parent in Los Angeles is all about being outdoors. This weekend we’re grabbing the husband, putting helmuts on the kids, and jumping on our bikes! Doesn’t a bike ride around the Rose Bowl sound like a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon? What are you and your little ones doing this weekend?

We over here at Silikids are gigantic fans of Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen fame. Most of you probably know her for her mouthwatering blog and dynamite baking. We’re shining the light on Deb because she shows us how to keep our little tykes fed with interesting recipes like Mango Banana Sauce.
We’re making two batches just to be safe: one for Harrison and one for mom!
